THE ARTIST

Denise Barnes creates art for personal and planetary healing through theater, music, comedy and ritual. A master of character comedy, Denise has worked with theater groups, and solo; with adults, teens, and children.  Her musical background includes folk rock duets and trios, as well as a recent stint with Denver based classic rock band Third Wheel, where she played rhythm guitar and sang lead vocals. Denise's resume also includes 15 years experience as a psychotherapist,  the last decade with cancer patients, and training as a  life coach and transformation mentor.

These days Denise travels nationally delivering her inspirational and unifying performances to savvy Cultural Creatives at conferences, progressive events, private parties and celebratory rituals. Her special brand of intelligent and outrageous humor stretches mental frameworks as it soothes the heart and engages the soul-eye view. Not only a performer,  Denise is a teacher who brings awareness and expansive frameworks to difficult topics. Fortunate for her job security and perhaps less happy-making for the planet, there are plenty of difficult topics to choose from in the year 2006. Like many who work in the field of planetary transformation, Denise views humanity as poised upon a critical threshold of development. Part of her mission is to empower each person to take an active role in this global birth canal, and to unite the collective as the one team they really are. This mission as well as Denise's  therapy background combine to make her performance a colorful tapestry of hilarity speckled with original ideas and practices that enable personal balance, fulfillment and fun in a changing and uncontrollable world.
